Terms & Conditions (dbqreads.org)

1) Who We Are

Dubuque County Reads (DCR) is a program of the Dubuque Area Library Information Consortium (DALINC), a nonprofit organization that fosters collaboration among libraries in Tri-State area. Our website, dbqreads.org, provides information about community reading programs, events, free book distribution, resources, and ways to participate.

2) Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using dbqreads.org, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. We may update these terms periodically; continued use after changes means you accept the revised terms.

3) Eligibility & Community Standards

DCR events are open to the public unless otherwise noted. We expect all participants to act respectfully toward staff, volunteers, presenters, and fellow attendees. Harassment, discrimination, or disruptive behavior may result in removal from events or denial of future participation.

4) Event Information, Registration & Changes

  • Event listings may include dates, locations, Zoom links, facilitators, and ticket/RSVP details.

  • Registration/RSVPs may be required for certain events. Completing a registration does not guarantee admission if capacity is limited.

  • Free-will donations may be accepted at certain events; donations are voluntary and generally non-refundable.

  • Program changes: We may modify, postpone, or cancel events (e.g., weather, venue conflicts, presenter illness). We will make reasonable efforts to update the website and notify registrants.

5) Free Book Distribution

  • Free copies (e.g., The Seed Keeper, Berry Song) are provided while supplies last at participating libraries.

  • DCR may limit quantities per person or household to ensure equitable distribution.

  • We reserve the right to change titles, quantities, or distribution methods based on availability and funding.

6) Content & Intellectual Property

  • Unless otherwise noted, website content (text, graphics, logos) is owned by DALINC/DCR or used with permission.

  • You may link to our pages and share official flyers/social posts for noncommercial community promotion.

  • You may not reproduce, modify, or republish our content without written permission.

  • Third-party logos/names (e.g., partners, venues) are the property of their respective owners and used with attribution or permission.

7) User Submissions & Conduct

  • If the site allows comments, forms, or uploads (e.g., photos, feedback):

  • You represent that your submissions are truthful, lawful, and do not infringe others’ rights.

  • Prohibited content includes: hate speech; harassment; defamation; threats; illegal activity; copyrighted material without permission; and malware.

  • We may moderate/remove content at our discretion.

8) Links to Other Sites

  • Our site may link to external websites (e.g., partner institutions, event RSVP pages). We are not responsible for external content, policies, or practices. Please review the terms and privacy policies of linked sites before using them.

9) Accessibility

  • We aim to provide accessible information and programming. If you encounter barriers to access (web or in-person), please contact us (see Section 15). We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate.

10) Disclaimer of Warranties

  • dbqreads.org is provided “as is.” We do not warrant uninterrupted, error-free, or secure access. Event details may change; we strive for accuracy but cannot guarantee completeness or timeliness.

11) Limitation of Liability

  • To the maximum extent permitted by law, DALINC/DCR and its affiliates, officers, employees, and volunteers are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or participation in events. For paid services (rare), our total liability will not exceed amounts you paid to DALINC for that service.

12) Indemnification

  • You agree to indemnify and hold harmless DALINC/DCR from claims arising out of your use of the site, your submissions, or your violation of these terms.

13) Compliance & Governing Law

  • You agree to comply with all applicable laws and regulations. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Iowa, without regard to conflict of law principles. Venue for disputes will be in state or federal courts located in Iowa.
